Truncation

Definition

Truncation is a deletion process in which a portion of a base will delete in order to fit into a defined and language-specific template.

    • Mellesmoen and Urbanczyk (2020) posit that in Halkomelem, moras may influence the language’s morphology. As a result of the mora analysis, there is a template within the syllable and mora which results in a deletion process, allowing the form to fit within the defined template.
