Definition
The feature [+/-voice] accounts for the contrasts found in sounds in terms of vocal fold vibrations (Zsiga, 2013, p. 262). Sounds that are [+voice] are voiced, meaning the vocal folds are vibrating during articulation. Sounds which are [-voice] are voiceless and do not have vocal fold vibration during articulation.
