[spread glottis]

Definition

The class [spread glottis], or [SG] for short, is not a binary feature, and does not include a +/- in its description.

Sounds in the class [SG] are sounds which have an opened glottis or non-vibrating vocal folds for an extended period of time (Zsiga, 2013, p. 262). This is in contrast with sounds that are [constricted glottis]. The class [SG] includes aspirated consonants (such as aspirated stops).
